Eleven dated, sourced pricing and end-of-life events across Cloud and Data Center — laid out chronologically, with the compounding math and the fork every Server customer was forced through in between.
The Timeline
Every entry below is dated and sourced. Increases are list-price percentages as announced by Atlassian or documented at the time by Atlassian partners; your actual renewal may differ based on tier, contract terms, and prior discounts.
Dual-licensing bridge opens
Atlassian let its largest Server accounts (1,000+ Jira/Confluence users, 250+ JSM agents) buy an annual Cloud subscription and get up to 12 months of extended Server support — a bridge for the accounts too big to migrate overnight.
Farewell Server, Hello Cloud — AtlassianFirst Cloud increase of this cycle
List prices rise 5% across Standard, Premium and Enterprise for Jira Software and Confluence. Jira Service Management rises 5–30% depending on tier. Access rises 10% for the 1,000+ user tier.
Atlassian Cloud: Price Adjustments in October 2023 — Seibert GroupServer support ends — for every customer, for good
No more security patches, bug fixes, tier changes, or new Marketplace app purchases on Server, for any product. Existing installs keep running as-is; everything else stops. From this date, every remaining Server customer has exactly two paths forward: Cloud, or Data Center.
Farewell Server, Hello Cloud — AtlassianSecond Cloud increase, plus a feature migration
Jira and Confluence Standard rise 5%, Premium 6–10%, Enterprise 10%. Jira Service Management rises 8–20%. Bitbucket +10%, Compass +14%. The same date, JSM's incident, problem and change management move from Standard to Premium-only (12-month grace period) — a capability cut delivered through packaging, not a sticker-price change.

List pricing for Jira Software, Confluence and Jira Service Management Data Center rises an average of ~23%, topping out at +36% for the largest Jira Software tier. Customers still on legacy "Advantage" discount pricing see +30% as Atlassian aligns them to current list rates.
Atlassian Increasing DC Prices…Again — The Jira GuyAtlassian announces the end of Data Center
Under the "Atlassian Ascend" program, Atlassian states Data Center "will no longer be able to deliver on our core promise" and sets a three-stage sunset: new-subscription sales close March 30, 2026; existing-customer renewals and expansions close March 30, 2028; full end-of-life is March 28, 2029.

Standard rises 5%, Premium 7.5%, Enterprise 7.5–10%, across Jira, Confluence, JSM and Guard. Bitbucket +10%. This is the increase behind the "5–10% in October 2025" figure referenced elsewhere on Leaving Jira.
Atlassian Cloud price updates, effective October 2025 — AdaptavistSecond Data Center increase in 12 months
List pricing rises a flat 15% across Jira Software, Confluence and JSM Data Center, at every tier. Customers still on legacy Advantage pricing see 18–40%, depending on tier — on top of the increase from thirteen months earlier.

Atlassian stops selling new Data Center subscriptions and Marketplace apps to net-new customers. This deadline has already passed — if you weren't a Data Center customer before it, that door is closed.
Data Center End of Life — AtlassianExisting customers lose the ability to expand
Last date current Data Center customers can buy new licenses, add Marketplace apps, or expand user counts on an existing subscription.
Data Center End of Life — AtlassianData Center goes read-only
All remaining Data Center subscriptions and their Marketplace apps expire. Instances become read-only — you can see your existing data, but you can't create or change anything.

So Where Does “40–75%” Come From?
It's not one number for every customer — it's what compounding the increases above does to different segments. Cloud-only Standard customers have it easiest; Data Center customers on legacy discount pricing have absorbed the most, purely from the two most recent Data Center increases:

The 40–75% figure referenced elsewhere on this site sits inside this range — it's the real compounding effect for Data Center customers on legacy pricing, not a blanket number that applies to every Atlassian customer. Where you land depends on which product, tier, and pricing track you're actually on, which is exactly why a generic percentage can't tell you your number — only your own numbers can.
What Server EOL Actually Forced Customers Into
February 15, 2024 wasn't a nudge — it was a hard stop for a product line many teams had run for a decade under a one-time license. From that date, every remaining Server customer had exactly two paths, and neither one turned out to be the stable option it was sold as.
Path 1: Migrate to Cloud
Traded a one-time license for a per-seat subscription with no ceiling. Absorbed three list-price increases since — Oct 2023, Oct 2024, Oct 2025 — plus the Oct 2024 packaging change that moved JSM incident, problem and change management out of Standard, pushing some teams from $21.42 to $47.82 per agent/month for capability they used to get by default.
Path 2: Upgrade to Data Center
Kept self-hosted control and avoided a forced UI/workflow overhaul — the “safe” choice for many compliance-sensitive orgs. Nineteen months later, on Sept 8, 2025, Atlassian announced Data Center itself is being sunset by March 2029 — while absorbing two list-price increases (Feb 2025, Feb 2026) in the same window.
There was no version of the 2024 fork that avoided a subsequent forced increase. Cloud customers got three price hikes. Data Center customers who bought stability got two price hikes and a second forced migration on a fixed deadline — one of which, the close of new Data Center sales on March 30, 2026, has already passed.
A 100-Person Team: Advertised vs. Actual
Jira Software Cloud's advertised rate is $7.91/user/month. That's the number on the homepage. It's also just Jira — not the stack most 100-person teams actually run.
That's before a single Marketplace app, before any banding tax from crossing a user-tier boundary, and before any of the three price increases since 2023 are applied to next year's renewal.
